§ 8-608. Utility sleeves

  •    (a) When required. -- To eliminate the possibility of boring and jacking under a State highway and to eliminate the cost of future installation of utility facilities, the Administration, if requested by any county, shall include in the specifications for any new State highway in that county the installation of utility sleeves.

    (b) Installation and marking. --

       (1) These utility sleeves shall be:

          (i) Made of metal, reinforced concrete, or other suitable material;

          (ii) Large enough to accommodate water mains, gas mains, electric lines, telephone cables, and any other utility facilities requested by the county; and

          (iii) Installed from right-of-way to right-of-way.

       (2) Utility sleeves installed for future use shall be bricked over at each end and marked properly by the Administration or the county.

    (c) Payment of cost. -- The county shall reimburse the Administration for the cost of the utility sleeves.
