§ 9.5-312. False statements or representations

  •    (a) Prohibited. -- In a matter within the scope of this subtitle, a person may not:

       (1) knowingly and willfully falsify or conceal a material fact by trick, scheme, or device;

       (2) make a false, fictitious, or fraudulent statement or representation; or

       (3) make or use a false writing or document knowing the writing or document contains a false, fictitious, or fraudulent statement or entry.

    (b) Penalty. -- Except as otherwise provided by law, a person who violates this section is guilty of a misdemeanor and on conviction is subject to imprisonment not exceeding 6 months or a fine not exceeding $ 1,000 or both.
