§ 12-503. Powers of counties over county roads

  •    (a) Scope of section. -- This section applies to all counties, except Baltimore City.

    (b) In general. -- The governing body of a county has control over county roads.

    (c) Appointment of civil engineers and road supervisors. -- The governing body of a county may appoint:

       (1) road supervisors; and

       (2) civil engineers to oversee the grading, construction, and repair of county roads.

    (d) Civil engineers. -- A civil engineer appointed in accordance with subsection (c) of this section shall:

       (1) hold office for a term, with a salary, under a bond, and subject to regulations of the governing body calculated to secure competent officers and a faithful discharge of duty; and

       (2) direct and manage the grading, construction, and repair of county roads.
