§ 15-907. Mammography screening

  •    (a) "Low-dose mammography" defined. -- In this section, "low-dose mammography" means an x-ray examination of the breast using dedicated equipment, including an x-ray tube, filter, compression device, screens, films, and cassettes, specifically for mammography that delivers an average radiation exposure of less than one rad mid-breast with two views for each breast.

    (b) Coverage required. -- If the federal standard under § 1882(p) of the federal Social Security Act is amended to authorize the inclusion of an annual mammography screening benefit in the core group of basic benefits for Medicare supplement policies, a Medicare supplement policy shall provide for coverage for an annual screening by low-dose mammography for the presence of occult breast cancer.
