§ 7-435. Evaluation of emergency management plans (Abrogation of section effective July 31, 2014.)

  •    (a) In general. -- In order to ensure that students in the State have a safe and secure place to learn, on or before February 1, 2014, each county board shall evaluate the emergency management plan in each public school under the jurisdiction of the county board, including:

       (1) Training activities;

       (2) Emergency safety exercises;

       (3) School security cameras;

       (4) School visitor policies;

       (5) School resource officer programs; and

       (6) The coordination of emergency management activities, plans, and resources with local, State, and federal agencies.

    (b) Reports from county school boards. --

       (1) On or before March 1, 2014, each county board shall submit to the Department a report on the evaluation required under subsection (a) of this section.

       (2) The report shall include recommendations on:

          (i) How to improve the existing public school emergency management plans; and

          (ii) The cost of improvements to the emergency management plans.

    (c) Reports from Department. -- On or before July 1, 2014, the Department shall, subject to § 2-1246 of the State Government Article, submit to the General Assembly a report on:

       (1) The emergency management plans in the public schools in the State;

       (2) Recommendations on how to improve the emergency management plans; and

       (3) The cost of improvements to the emergency management plans.
