§ 10-806. Established.

  •    (a) In general. -- There is a Maryland Clean Energy Center.

    (b) Status. -- The Center is a body politic and corporate and is an instrumentality of the State.

    (c) Essential governmental function. -- The exercise by the Center of the powers conferred by this subtitle is the performance of an essential governmental function.

    (d) Purposes. -- The purposes of the Center are to:

       (1) promote economic development and jobs in the clean energy industry sector in the State;

       (2) promote the deployment of clean energy technology in the State;

       (3) serve as an incubator for the development of clean energy industry in the State;

       (4) collect, analyze, and disseminate industry data; and

       (5) provide outreach and technical support to further the clean energy industry in the State.

    (e) Coordination with Administration required. -- The Center shall coordinate with the Maryland Energy Administration and may not duplicate the programs or activities of the Administration without consent of the Administration.
