§ 5-601. Action against person furnishing information to enumerated agency for research purposes

(a) "The Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services Systems" defined. -- In this section, "the Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services Systems" means the agency described in § 13-503 of the Education Article.
(b) In general. -- No action may be brought against a person, firm, or corporation who furnishes confidential records, reports, statements, notes, or other information to one of the following agencies or their authorized agents, for purposes of research and study:
(1) The Medical and Chirurgical Faculty or its allied committees;
(2) An "in-hospital" staff committee;
(3) A nationally organized medical society or research group;
(4) The State Department of Health and Mental Hygiene; or
(5) The Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services Systems.
