§ 17-401. Definitions

  •    (a) In general. -- In this subtitle the following words have the meanings indicated.

    (b) Free-play console machine. -- "Free-play console machine" means a machine that:

       (1) has a backboard that displays combinations of numbers or symbols;

       (2) has 2 or more reels that spin on the insertion of 1 or more coins or tokens; and

       (3) when the reels stop on combinations that match those on the backboard, rewards the player with a specified number of free games, allowing the player to continue to play the machine without inserting additional coins or tokens.

    (c) Free-play pinball machine. -- "Free-play pinball machine" means a machine that:

       (1) on insertion of 1 or more coins or tokens, releases 1 or more balls for the player to propel by a plunger; and

       (2) if the player gets a certain score or combination of numbers, rewards the player with a specified number of free games, allowing the player to continue to play the machine without inserting additional coins or tokens.
